[edit] Aim
A successful youth football programme can provide the club with talent with which to use in it's own squad or sell on at a profit. For a small club youth can bring in a lot of money.
[edit] Proposal
There are a number of proposals on youth football and no decision on direction has yet been reached. Most proposals are based upon replicating the successful formulas of other clubs.
[edit] What needs to be done
MyFC member doshaboy who has spent the past eight years working as part of the Ebbsfleet youth section has highlighted a number of issues/ areas which need attention:
- Funding for coaching development.
- Funding to bring external coaches and managers to the Club. (We still rely upon too many parent manager/coach positions).
- Funding for match day pitch fees - we have to pay to play at our own ground.
- A full time groundsman at our home ground (Fleet Leisure) who is given a budget to bring the quality of the pitches up to a decent standard .
- New goalnets and goalposts for both mini-soccer and 11-a- side teams at FL
- Kit sponsorship for the whole section
- A home ground where only the Youth section and the Ladies play on a Sunday( match day) - sadly, the pitches are made available to 'pub' sides and other non Fleet teams
- Our own training facility for all youth teams
- Before anything else in would be necessary to agree a budget for the youth programme, so that we can work within our means.
- A system of allowing members who already or who wish to start their own youth football teams in their locality can link to the club's youth programme allowing them to direct talented players they've found to the club, or organise friendlies with Ebbsfleet youth teams, coaching sessions from Ebbsfleet coaches etc.
[edit] Projected Cost
- A budget would need to be decided by the Board.
