Visiting Ebbsfleet

[edit] Visitors Centre
The Gravesham Visitor Centre's official website is for some reason called Towncentric. The site is a bit dodgy in that it seems, after being online for some months, somewhat incomplete. It does however have some info on accommodation possibilities in Gravesend and its hinterland. (Perhaps a stream of visitors to the site from here would encourage them to get their act together.) The centre's physical location is adjacent to the grave of Pocahontas which in itself would be worth visiting
[edit] Places to Stay
If you have stayed in any of these places please add a short review below. Thanks!
I have lived in area all my life and would recommend you stay OUTSIDE the immediate vicinity. There are a couple of reasonable hotels on the A2 just beyond Gravesend, but the best for me would be the Travel Inn, Woodlands Park, Wrotham Road Gravesend, food is standard steakhouse fayre, but clean and tidy. -- Freddy1913
- I googled for a listing of the guest house accommodation in Gravesend ( UK that is) and the best of them appears to be the Bed & Breakfasts Guide. There are 14 listings in the vicinity some with photos even. The site is easy to navigate and you can book online for some of the places.

[edit] Granby Hotel
1, The Hill, Northfleet, Gravesend, Kent DA11 9ES Tel: 01474 321 302 Google Map
WARNING: Lord Hreo found some VERY bad reviews of the Granby - "Prison would seem more attractive!", "Fawlty Towers without the comedy", "The Granby Hotel is the one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune of staying in."
The granby hotel is the best location it is quite reasonable approx £30 a night and you could walk in 10/15 mins or get a bus or taxi for around £3.00 i would definately suggest the Granby Hotel in Northfleet as its only around £30 a night and is a 10/15 walk to the ground. fnex has just stayed there for the last 5 days he is traveling back home today why not give him a shout as to what its like there as I'm a local and dont go in it myself but its very close; Darftord is to far you would need a car or train to get to ground -- chelseaspencer
Review by LordCharnock Me and the wife stayed here for Aldershot game (FAT Semi). The Hotel itself is typical of any cheap, non specialist hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and surpisingly large (double en-suite). It has a TV and a socket to charge your phone. What more do you need? In walking distance to the ground and Gravesend town centre and a pub opposite (didn't go). Also didn't get breakfast included - McDonalds is walking distance. Negative points - our room was on the front with a few street lights just outside and thin curtains. I woke at 3am thinking it was day. The only other thing was the area. You get the impression that it's not nice by the big bars on the reception. I would stay here again without question, may have to convince the wife though.
[edit] Travelodges
Travelodge Dartford is 10 mins down the road. Do cheap deal occasionally. If you can book early enough then you can stop for £29 if you leave it till late you will pay upto £60 Google Map
Also try the M2 Medway one as although 25 mins in the car is accessible Camponile has a decent room and restaurant fro £44.05 but also have the odd two nights for one offer. -- brianglo and www.1966england.com

Henry Guest House Gravesend Dover Road, Northfleet, Gravesend, Kent DA11 9PH Booking Line: 0845 45 66 399
Four minutes down Dover Road from the Granby Hotel (and sometimes accepts guests when Granby screws up their reservations, as happened one night I was here). Manager not on site at all times, but friendly delightful thoughtful and answers her cellphone. No "Henry Guest House" sign outside the place, and few neighbors know what/where it is, so telephone the manager when you know when you'll be checking in!
Easy walk to Stonebridge Road, bus lines go by the Granby, convenient walk to Northfleet train station if you have a backpack; suitcase travellers can take the 480/490 bus from Dartford, Gravesend, or train stops in between. Can walk to/from Gravesend if you like 3km walks (like Sarah-Jane or me). Nearby pubs, fish'n'chips, and kebab restaraunts; mini-marts also close; nearest real store in Gravesend.
Decently stocked kitchen (a can of Red Stripe in the fridge!), an inexpensive washer'n'dryer in kitchen, sink and shower and hair dryer and TV with Sky Sports in room (WC is a separate room next to kitchen). Cozy during April snow. Since I wasn't able to get the 29 GBP rate from the Travelodge Dartford, this place at 35 GBP for a single was a great deal (visit booking.com before/instead of calling). -- Alexgloc 20:46, 10 April 2008 (PDT)

The Ghandi: Very nice food, good service, pretty cheap (£35-ish for 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 rice, 1 naan, 2 beers and a coke). Was busy too - always a good sign
