[edit] Liam Daish: Myth buster:

The folk-wisdom on the MyFC forums and on IRC is that The Fleet tend to give a lack-luster performance in the first half of a match. During the half-time break Liam Daish gives the players a rocket, adapts the formation, makes a substitution or two and they come out with renewed energy and better tactics to grab victory (or at least a draw) from the jaws of defeat.

According to the statistics this seems to be the pattern for most clubs: Since the start of the 2007 - 2008 season Conference League clubs have scored an average of five more goals during the second half of their matches than the first half. There are lots of reasons for this including the fact that in the second half players start to get tired and are more likely to make mistakes in defence.

However Liam Daish doesn't seem to have the same effect - in fact just four clubs in the Conference see no improvement in their second half performances. These are: Altrincham, Stafford Rangers, Northwich Victoria and Ebbsfleet (highlighted in orange in the table below).
