Stacy Long another player to have represented England C.
Probably our most creative player. His vision is first class, he spots a pass very quickly and his execution is spot on. Sometimes he sees things that others do not, so his passes do not always find their man as the others are not as quick as him. Has the ability to beat players and create chances. He also works very hard and wears his heart on his sleeve. I would be astonished if he doesn't end up playing at a much higher level (hopefully with us) - Gaspode
SCOUTING REPORTS
EBBSFLEET UNITED VS CAMBRIDGE UNITED
Stacy Long had a reasonably good game against Cambridge United. I noticed that his passing was very accurate and he very rarely gave the ball away and kept possesion for the team on quite a few occasions.
He was deployed on the lank flank but noticed he drifted inside frequently throughout the match. I am not sure whther he was under instruction to do this. Whilst on the wing he always seemed to cut inside before making a pass.
Stacy appears to favour the cross diagonal ball to the right channel of the pitch and picked out Akinde and Mcphee with excellent balls. He must have tried this same pass on at least 4 occasions the first two going to the indented target the other two intercepted by the Cambridge United defence through headed clearances.
Stacy is also responsible for set pieces pretty much accross the whole pitch. On 17 minutes the fleet had a free kick in a wide position deep in the Cambridge United half. His delivery was poor and ended going straight to a defender who cleared the ball with ease.
On 24 minutes he took a free kick on around the half way line to the edge of the penalty box which found the head of a striker who flicked the ball into the box. His accuracy on this free kick was very good.
On 42 minutes he takes a corner aiming for the far post which was way off target. 54 minutes a long range free kick is directed into the box with little success. 59 minutes another freekick into the box which finds a fleet player. This was a better delivery.
From this performance I feel he is not suited to a wide role. I think throughout the whole 90 minutes he only beat the last defender once and put a cross into the box once during open play. He drifts inside to the central midfield birth frequently which may be his better role within the team.
He tended to move out of position to the other flank on a couple of occasions which may cause problems formation wise. He certainly did not give the ball away cheaply and found his man on a high percentage of his passes.
He did not have a single shot on goal all night which is a bit worrying especially with Cambridge united being down to 10 men. Much of the wide play came through McPhee so this could have been the possible reason for Stacy not being involved too much with the build up play.
Overall I would give him a rating of 6/10 as he was not very influential within the game but maintained a good passing accuracy.
