Conference Shield

The Conference Shield, also known as the Setanta Shield, is a knockout cup competition begun in the 2007/08 season. It is competed by teams from the Conference National, Conference South, and Conference North divsions. Each round is single-legged and if not won in normal time, the match is decided by extra time and then penalties. The first three rounds are competed only by teams from the Conference North and Conference South regionalised into Northern and Southern sections. Conference National teams enter in the fourth round.
The competition is effectively a League Cup for Conference teams and is sponsored by Setanta Sports which televises a live match from every round, including both the semi finals and the final itself.
