[edit] Role

MyFootballClub Ltd. ("Operator") is a limited company that has been contracted by Society to provide services in accordance with the Operator Agreement. Among other functions, they will build and maintain the MyFC Website.

[edit] The Teams

There are a number of teams working on behalf of the Operator. Everyone involved in the website, and the legal and financial work, is also a member of the Society. For example, Will Brooks's username is Westerly Ware.

[edit] Web Team

The MyFC Web Team is concentrating on building the website and increasing membership. The team includes Will Brooks and a number of colleagues from his days working as a football journalist and more recently in web marketing. For example, Will worked with Tim Glynne-Jones on BBC Match of the Day magazine from 1996-2000.

[edit] Legal Team

The first key responsibility of the Legal Team is to conduct the takeover of a football club. It is unknown what role, if any, these people will have after the purchase of a club as they are privately-retained attorneys, although they have also purchased memberships in MyFC individually.

The team includes:

The Forum Team are members who have been picked by the Web Team to oversee and maintain the forums. They are not employed by the Operator.

They have the ability to lock, move and delete threads, as well as more generally to help point members in the right direction.

At the moment (June 2008), the current Forum Team First XI(I) is:

[edit] Fees

In exchange for providing services to Society, Operator receives £7.50 out of every £35 membership fee paid to Society. This equated to just slightly less than 21.5%. In future years Operator's fee will be 21% of all membership fees.

These fees cover the technical and operational costs of the website and paying the salaries of the staff of Operator. Any surplus after costs is Operator's profit - although Society is a not-for-profit organisation, Operator is a limited company and is entitled to make a profit.

[edit] Is that fair? I thought this was "for the good of football"?

Whether it is fair or not is for you to judge. The entire concept of MyFootballClub was invented by Operator, and the employees of the Operator, such as Brooks, have put substantial work into making MyFC happen. As with most businesses, the Operator will only make a profit if enough people are willing to pay for its services. In this case, the Operator's sole client in the MyFC Society, so if memberships in the Society decline, the Operator would see a proportional reduction in its income, which is based on the administrative fee referenced above.

[edit] Can members of Society find out their income and expenditure?

To a very limited degree. As a limited company Operator will have to submit accounts to Companies House every year, but they are a small company and are entitled to publish "small company accounts". These will set out basic profit and loss, but will not offer much detail.

Operator's accounts will be publicly available for a small fee.
