A general election is currently being held for the 7 Society Board positions. Voting will be open from 21st August to the 28th August.

The General Election follows the Society Rules and a modification of the Election procedures that was developed and ratified by members in July 2008.

[edit] Nominations

The Nomination threads for those wishing to seek election were opened on July 24th at 00:01 and closed on July 31st at 23:59.

Any potential Nominee who obtained at least 50 seconds during the Nomination Period were to be automatically accepted as a candidate. Because less than 20 potential Nominees received at least 50 seconds, the 20 potential Nominees who obtained the highest number of seconds were declared Nominated.

[edit] Campaigning

Campaign threads should be submitted by 8am on Thursday 6th August, including an opening statement and link back to the nominations thread. All candidate threads will then be set live for questions from the members. These may be supplemented by a self-moderated campaign group if the candidate wishes to divide up the issues or otherwise organise their campaign.

[edit] Election

The 2009 election for the Board will be conducted from August 21st at 00:01 until August 28th at 23:59, prior to the AGM. Election is by plurality, with the largest vote-getters filling the positions of the Society Board. All 7 positions are available as only one Board member (Jessica) remained in position from the previous general election in March 2008.

If there is a tie for the last available position, there is an immediate Run-Off Election between those who are tied for that position, which shall last for 48 hours. Those elected will assume office at the AGM to be conducted the following day.

The AGM will be conducted on August 29th or 30th 2009 (dependent upon availability of sites) at a time and place yet to be designated.

All times are Greenwich Meridian Time.
