[edit] Basic Information

Ebbsfleet United was founded in 1946 following the merger of Gravesend United and Northfleet United. Ebbsfleet United was known as Gravesend and Northfleet United until the end of the 2006-07 season when the club was renamed Ebbsfleet United. Ebbsfleet was taken over by MyFootballClub on the 23rd of January 2008 making it the first club in English football history to come under the 'ownership' of a web based community.

The club has played at Stonebridge Road, former home of Northfleet United, since 1946. Ebbsfleet or, more commonly, 'the Fleet' currently play in the Blue Square Premier division.

[edit] Notes

  • 4,000 capacity ground with 500 seats. Attendances of 1,092. Ground is poor with no prospect of development due to a large electricity pylon right beside the ground. Owned by Jason Botley. Population of Northfleet 14,000. Population of Gravesend 56,000. Would require a new ground for any advancement. - doheochai
  • Gravesend & Northfleet were the first club in Kent to install floodlights in 1954.
  • It should be noted that though major improvments cant be done for the reason above, we can still cheaply upgrade the ground to League 2 standard over a summer if need be, just not much more - Quincel
  • The club has a three year sponsorship deal with Eurostar.
  • Ebbsfleet is a FA Community Charter Standard Club. This recognises the club's involvement in the community, and gives access to various grants and other FA benefits. However, there are also criteria which must be upheld, including player discipline and supporter behaviour. - Davoloid
