Gravesend and Northfleet F.C was founded in 1946 following the merger of Gravesend United and Northfleet United. The club was known as until the end of the 2006-07 season when the club was renamed Ebbsfleet United.

Ebbsfleet was taken over by MyFootballClub on the 23rd of January 2008 making it the first club in English football history to come under the 'ownership' of a web based community.

The club has played at Stonebridge Road, former home of Northfleet United, since 1946. Ebbsfleet or, more commonly, 'the Fleet' currently play in the Blue Square Premier division.
